Patricia Scharlin has been a member of the UN team in New York for several years. Her special role on the team is to monitor sustainable development issues. She has been a co-chair of the UN NGO Committee on Sustainable Development and more recently a member of its executive committee. She is also involved in the Working Group on Girls, the committee dealing with trafficking of persons and the newly formed committee on education. Pat was formerly the editor-in-chief of publications at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace before becoming the founding director of the Sierra Club International Office. Then with her partner in The Environment Group, Inc., the company published a newsletter for major corporations on environment, health and safety management and, along with other responsibilities, coordinated international seminars on sustainable development for Tufts University. Pat has served as an advisor on a number of U.S. government delegations to conferences relating to environment and development. She delights in working with young women on issues that concern the health of the planet and building the self esteem of young girls.

  1. Kristen I am so proud of you as well as your passion to advocate for women and children. Now is the time for young women to take a stand especially speaking for those who can't speak for themselves. Keep up the good work
